Overview
We designed and shipped an end-to-end streaming platform for a tier-1 carrier — covering ingestion, transcoding, multi-DRM packaging, adaptive delivery, and a subscriber-facing experience across mobile, web, and TV. The platform was engineered to absorb launch-day traffic spikes and sustain millions of concurrent viewers without degradation.
The challenge
The operator needed a premium streaming product to defend ARPU against OTT competitors — but their legacy delivery stack could not handle live concurrency, lacked DRM, and offered no path to monetisation. They needed carrier-grade reliability from day one.
Our approach
We built a cloud-native pipeline on AWS with adaptive bitrate (HLS/DASH), multi-DRM (Widevine + FairPlay), and a global CDN edge. Subscriber paywalls, entitlements, and analytics were wired into the billing core, and the apps were instrumented so every release cycle compounded engagement.
Outcomes
- 12M+ active subscribers across three markets
- 4.7★ average app store rating
- 99.97% streaming uptime through peak events
- New recurring revenue line for the operator
