We engineered the country’s first nationwide interactive mobile quiz platform — letting millions of subscribers answer live questions in real time during televised and on-air shows. The system was architected for extreme, spiky concurrency, sustaining a peak application load of 1.2 million requests per second.
The challenge
No platform in the market had ever handled the kind of instantaneous, nationwide traffic surge that a live quiz creates — when a question goes out, millions respond within seconds. Existing infrastructure simply collapsed under that load profile.
Our approach
We designed a horizontally-scalable, queue-buffered ingestion architecture that could absorb sudden 1.2M req/sec bursts, process answers idempotently, and reconcile scoring in real time. Aggressive load-shedding, back-pressure, and rate-shaping kept the platform stable through every live event.
